Oracle BI Applications Roadmap
I have just come across this excellent presentation delivered by Oracle’s Florian Schouten (Senior Director, Product Management) at January’s BIWA Summit. The presentation comprises of over 60 slides detailing the current Oracle BI Application footprint, as well as their future direction (including the convergence of related products). The presentation is of course subject to Oracle’s usual safeharbour statement. Highlights for me include:-
- GoldenGate being leveraged to provide near realtime ETL
- ETL validation and data lineage (from dashboard to source)
- Fusion Applications integration and features
In terms of the next 12 months, we can expect the following for the BI Applications:-
- Support for ODI across all sources
- Data model and release integration across Fusion and Applications Unlimited
- New content: Fixed Assets, Budgetary Control, Sourcing, Time & Labor, Project Resource Management, Global Payroll
- New modules: Student Information Analytics, Spend Planning
- New adapters: Fusion Applications Cloud Service adapters, Procurement & Spend Analytics for JDE, Price Analytics for EBS, Supply Chain & Order Management Analytics for PeopleSoft
- User Experience Redesign (partial)
- Cost of Ownership Improvements: Data Lineage, ETL Data Validation, Golden Gate
A close source has also stated that an upcoming release of the BI Applications will include content for Oracle Projects reconciliation, as well as Oracle Project Resource Management. However, this release will leverage Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) for ETL. Existing customers using Informtica will apparently have to wait until 2014 at the earliest for the same content. Again, these plans may be subject to change.
