Network Rail: ETIP: Efficiency Tracking Tool

As part of Control Period 5 of the Government’s funding framework, Network Rail has to be able to both effectively track efficiencies and report on these to the UK Government.

This reporting has grown and the original spreadsheet used by the Finance team had become too unwieldy for the organization to use effectively.   The original data was also stored in multiple databases.  It was therefore decided to take data generated by the Regions and create a customized standard reporting function.

To deliver a solution which was acceptable to both Network Rail and within the UK Government’s reporting pack, the Prōject Team developed a standard reporting functionality using APEX with information extracted from multiple databases.  The design of the report meant that the data was populated at the Region level and then collated centrally.
